TECHNICAL NOTE

An administrator on a Windows PC can uninstall the Fasoo client from the Fasoo program group, through the Control Panel or by running a script.  Some organizations want to prevent users with administrative rights on a PC from uninstalling the Fasoo client.


The Fasoo Client Uninstall OTP Generator allows IT administrators and Help Desk personnel to control uninstalling the Fasoo client.  This utility has a license file unique to each customer.  Please ask your Fasoo technical contact or the Fasoo Help Desk for this utility if you do not have it.


Uninstall the Fasoo Client

Execute the following steps to prepare to run the utility.

  1. Extract the contents of ‘Fasoo client uninstall OTP generator.zip’ to a shared folder or other location accessible to IT or Help Desk personnel.
  2. Install ‘vcredist_x86.exe’ as an administrator by double-clicking the file.
  3. Double-click ‘KeyManager.exe’ to start the utility.
  4. Enter the password from ‘password.txt’ when prompted and click Okay.
  5. If the utility does not start, confirm a license file (.lic) is in the same folder and that you installed ‘vcredist_x86.exe’.  


User to Uninstall

  1. Click the Windows icon in the lower left of your PC and go to the Fasoo program group.
  2. Click Uninstall to uninstall the Fasoo client.



  3. A dialog box appears with ‘Uninstall information’ as shown below.
     
  4. Send the code in the ‘Uninstall information’ box to IT or your Help Desk.


IT or Help Desk Administrator

  1. Double-click ‘KeyManager.exe’ to start the utility.
           
     
  2. Enter the password from ‘password.txt’ when prompted and click Okay.
           
     
  3. Paste the ‘Uninstall Information’ from the user into the utility.
     
      
  4. Click ‘Create Key’ to generate an ‘Uninstall Key’.

     

     
  5.  Send the key to the user. 
  6. Click ‘Complete’ to close the utility.


User to Uninstall

  1. Enter the ‘Uninstall Key’ provided by the IT administrator or the Help Desk.

     

     
  2. Click OK to continue uninstalling the Fasoo client.

     
     
  3.  If the uninstall process prompts you to reboot, click Yes to reboot immediately or No to reboot later.
